Website Baker Themes

Feel free to use the following templates for your personal or commercial websites. Please leave the author's name and reference in the info.php file.

These are CSS based templates that I made for Website Baker 2.7, but they should work with newer versions. However I have not tested them with the newere versions, as I have written my own CMS and don't use Website Baker anymore.

Basic Search Engine Tips

  0 comments View
There are many steps a web designer can take to optimize for search engines, however here are a few basic ones to help you do your part.

  • Select a short domain name which is easy to spell and to remember. Difficult to remember, hard to spell or misspelled domain names will result in people having difficulty finding your site.
  • Optimize your website for search engines. When you order a website from us, we will optimize it for search engines. There is a fine line in optimization however, since being too aggressive will cause a website to be penalized by some engines. Keep in mind though, that it takes time before a website is ranked higher in most search results. There are steps you must also take yourself in order to promote your exposure and some of them are described on this page.
  • Link backs. Place your website's link in other websites. More linkbacks means better exposure. For example you can list your website in business directories, various blogs, link exchanges and etc. Just remember that the quality of the website that you put your link, does have a great effect.
  • Make contents of your website clear, relevant and to the point, as well as interesting.
  • Add fresh content to your website regularly. More pages you have, better it is.
  • Each one of your pages must have a unique title in the "title" tag of your html page.
  • Make some advertising banners and place ads in other websites. The rates differ depending on how much traffic the other site has.
  • Have a mailing list in your website, where people can subscribe to receive news, coupons or discount offers from you.
  • Make interesting monthly newsletters if you can and send them out to your subscribers via email.
  • Promote your website in social networking websites line Facebook and Twitter.
  • Create videos and upload them to YouTube, Vimeo and similar websites.
  • Participate in discussion forums and/or blogs that are relevant to your profession or interests.
  • Put your website's link in your email signatures or in your discussion forum signatures if allowed.
  • Get listed in business directories. For every profession or business there are relevant directories. Some are free and others may charge a fee.
  • Word of mouth. Tell people about your website and print your website's address on your business cards.
